The Submission of Alastair Ingram

The Submission of Alistair Ingram
                                               By: Kelli Maine

Heather was given an arc to this novella in exchange for an honest reveiew.
This is an erotica story.

“Two doms don’t make a right.”

Betty is a dominatrix at a club called Dolls and Doms. Alistair is a movie star and is in all the gossip mags and engaged to a Hollywood starlet. His bachelor party is at the club, where he and Betty meet. All is not as it seems that night, and we are able to watch a love story unfold. And of course, lots of naughtiness ensues.

When Alastair’s engagement falls apart, we see Betty get thrown into the spotlight, which is the worst place for her to be. She has been in hiding for quite some time, and needs help to get out of her troubles. Alastair and Betty conspire a plan, and we get to watch them get out of trouble, and hopefully find love;)

I loved this story. I was not sure what to expect when I signed up to read this story, I did not follow the blog, and have not been much into the BDSM genre, they seem to feel very 50’ish. This was so different, and special. We are given impressions of two characters that are so different from who they truly are. Black Betty is hiding behind whips and chains, and Alastair is hiding behind his bad boy persona. I highly recommend this novella. I hope to see more soon from Kelli Maine. I would love to see a full sized novel. Hint hint ;)

Sucide Note by Teresa Mummert review

Suicide Note

By: Teresa Mummert
5 Major hip-thrusting stars

I was given a super-duper early arc in exchange for a brutally honest review. By~Heather

“I’m not so sure anymore. I just walked away from someone I cared about because I couldn’t tell her the truth.”
“Why?”
“Because I was scared to lose her.”
“Looks like you lost her anyway. Why not put all your cards on the table. Let her decide what she can handle.”

You know when you read a story that you really connect with a character. Well, I felt this with both of the characters. I was moved by the emotion, the fear, the happy times, the crazy ex, the sexiness of Shane and Jenn!

Jenn Reynolds  and SSgt. Shane Tudor have both come from bad relationships and do not want to be on the path for love, when their lives collide over a note that should not have been seen by Shane, sparks fly and road trips ensue.

Jenn is on the fast-track for her career, but she has a less than stellar family. Shane is deployed and heartbroken with a loving family back home. Shane has his 2-week break from Iraq and decided to visit his cousin instead of facing his problems. Jenn and Shane find each other during this break. But quickly learn there’s more than what meets the eye. Shane thinks he’s just keeping his new friend safe, but how long can he lie to himself before he’s in too deep?

I wrapped my arms around her waist and lifted her into my arms. Tears, happy tears, fell from my eyes as I held on to the only person in the world that could take away all of my hurting with a simple smile.
“If something would have happened to you.”
“It didn’t. We can’t live our lives in a protective bubble. Things are going to happen. Sometimes bad things but we shouldn’t let that decide how we live our lives. Don’t be mad at me.”

Sins & Needles by Karina Halle review

Sins & Needles
By Karina Halle
**4.25 Stars**

"I have to live with my mistakes, but I don’t have to regret them. I regret my actions but I cant' regret the consequences. We all make our own paths in life. Everyone we meet, everything we do, it changes us. It makes us who we are. And, if we’re lucky, we’re given the chance to make things right again.”

Sins and Needles. Wow! What an original story. I struggle to find stories I connect to. Not saying I’m a con artist, just that most girls are not sweet and innocent. Ellie has layers and Camden isn’t the same bad-boy we’re all so used to. Both characters were flawed. They had scars, lives they wanted desperately to leave behind. I was able to see where the story was headed, but it wasn’t so much about where the story ends, but how they got there.

The girl comes from a bad background; her parents were not good people. They taught the girl all she knows. Ellie Watts is a con-artist. A grifter. A gypsie.  She cons men and steals their money. She has had so many identities, but finally must come back to the one that she was born with… Ellie. She returns to her hometown of Palm Valley to start over. This is where she sees Camden McQueen. He was the Goth growing up. He was an outsider. Now, he is unrecognizable. Tall, dark, mysterious, successful. He now own a local tattoo shop, Sins and Needles, which harbors many secrets of its own. Camden and Ellie go all the way back to High School. They have a past. But now isn’t the time to reminisce; it’s time to move forward. There’s trouble coming from both sides. Can these two learn to trust one another to survive? Can they learn to love again?

I loved the first installment of The Artists trilogy. Some books just make you feel an instant connection. There is nothing bubblegum to this story, it's dark and a excellent change of pace. I was hooked from the first page. I will prewarn though, it is a big cliffhanger, I was not expecting that, so be ready for it!

“Do you think because you can’t see my scars they don’t exist? That’s the trouble with pain, Ellie. If you’re lucky, you can wear it for all the world to see. Most people have their pain deep inside, in places no one ever goes.  Not until it’s too late.”

Perfectly Unmatched by Liz Reinhardt review

Perfectly Unmatched
(A Youngblood Book)
By, Liz Reinhardt

“You run away for freedom. You run away because you can’t be trapped by the people who love you but don’t understand you. You run away because you want to be missed, you want them to start a worried search party combing far and wide for scraps of evidence that you’re going to be back, safe and sound. Running away is a way to play a dirty trick on the perfect fate that will suffocate you if you’re not careful.”

Benelli Youngblood has her whole life mapped out in front of her. She has the perfect boyfriend that will be the perfect man to take over her father’s business when the time comes, alongside Benelli. But when she catches her perfect boyfriend cheating, she must change her gameplan. Benelli goes to her family’s cottage in Hungary, seeking out a husband and business partner her father will approve of. While dating, she meets Cormac, the complete opposite of what she’s looking for, during her quest to find the perfect arranged marriage.

Now for my honest thoughts. I wanted to like this story, but it didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. Why can’t Benelli run her family business herself? It was because she is a woman, and women cannot run a business. This is 2013, women run companies just as well as men do. Cormac was everything Benelli needs in a husband. But for some reason, she took most of the book to see that her happiness is more important than her families outdated views on business and life. Then there is her best friend Lala, who gives Cormac an ultimatum. She has sway with Benelli, and will be an alibi for them to be together for the summer, but he will have to let her go when she finds a husband. He either agrees to this, or she thinks Benelli will listen to her and be done with him.
Cormac is the redeeming character in this story, he is not the typical hero. He was so likeable, nerdy, smart, adorable, and willing to fight for the girl he loved.

What do you want? “To hold you. To smell your hair and hope you don’t notice and think I’m some sort of psychotic. To watch the way the light moves over your skin. I want you to get chilly and sleepy and need to press your body tight to mine, and I want to wrap my arms around you. I want whatever you write in that secret book of yours about me to be worth all the other rotten shit you’re going to wind up accepting down the line.” That’s, um, that’s incredibly romantic.”

Benelli was a strong-minded, educated woman, whom was treated as a child by all of the people surrounding her. The love story was enjoyable, but the supporting cast brought my views down significantly.  I truly believe this could be a fun, easy read for many readers, it just wasn’t the one for me.

“If you never listen to a word I say for the rest of our lives, listen now. Choose love. Don’t take the easy way out. Choose someone who will push you and challenge you. Okay? Do that because that’s what you deserve.”

Consequences by Aleatha Romig

Consequences
By: Aleatha Romig
**5 MINDFUCKING STARS**

Life is not what it’s supposed to be. It’s what it is. The way you cope with it is what makes                      the difference.-Virginia Satir

I do not even know where to begin! This was the biggest mindfuck I have ever read. I was confused with my feelings the whole way through. I was rooting for a psychopath at a few points. What started as a freaky romance, ended in a huge twisted mystery. Every possible emotion, good and bad, was touched while reading this novel.

Anyone can give up. It’s the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand of you fell apart, that’s true strength.-Unknown

Claire Nichols is a laid-off meteorologist, working as a bartender, she has $210,000 in debt. One night at work, a mysterious dark patron comes in and asks Claire for a drink after work. Anthony Rawlings is tall, dark, and handsome. He is extremely private. Not many people know the real Tony. A contract is made on a bar napkin, ridding her of her debt. What is Claire getting herself into? She thinks a possible job, but it is of course, much, much more. Claire is taken from her home and life and given the choice to fight back or adapt. Which takes more strength?

“I would rather think about the consequences of staying with you and learning what makes you happy,” she smiled, “and learning what you want of me, and when you want it.”

Each word means something in this story. I did feel at times while reading the first 80% that the story could have been shorter, but it made sense once I finished. I do wish the author would have included more dialogue in parts, but none of those took away from the rating. This author has such a skill with her writing. I was floored with each page turned. I cannot wait to begin Truth. This is an absolute must-read. But know this, it is not for the weak-stomach. It was strong adult-content, and could be hard for some to get through. Do not expect a fun short evening to finish this. It is deep and real.

Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realiaze they were the big things.-Author anonymous
